In a World Full of Robots, Be a Human

Artificial intelligence is everywhere these days it seems. It’s in our search engines, emails, social media apps, and the countless tools businesses use to connect with their customers. AI is fast, efficient, and pretty impressive. However, no matter how smart it gets, it can’t replace what makes us human.
At Alive, we’re all about keeping it authentic.
What AI Can (and Can’t) Do:
AI’s strengths are undeniable. It can process data faster than any human, spot patterns in seconds, and help brainstorm ideas when you’re stuck. It can handle repetitive tasks so we can focus on more meaningful work. That’s why it’s become such a powerful tool in marketing and beyond.
But AI has its limits. It lacks empathy, the ability to truly feel and understand another person’s emotions. It doesn’t create authentic stories born from lived experience or personal passion. AI doesn’t laugh at a joke, cry during a heartfelt moment, or build relationships the way humans do.
What This Means for Marketing:
Marketing isn’t all about clever words or pretty images. Good marketing connects with your audience on a deeper level. It should convey empathy, creativity, and storytelling that resonates on a deeply human level. It’s about showing up as your authentic self, imperfections and all, because that is what humans connect with.
We’ve seen firsthand how vulnerability and authenticity create lasting bonds. It’s what builds trust and inspires loyalty.
How to Keep it Real:
So how do we keep it real in a world where AI is so tempting to lean on? Here are some simple ways:
Pause and Reflect: Before you post, ask yourself: Would I say this in a face-to-face conversation? Would I actually want to read this on my feed? Does this feel too ‘flowery’ for what I’m explaining?
Tell Your Story: Share what makes you or your brand unique. The quirks, the challenges, the wins.
Active Listening: Pay attention to your audience’s needs and feedback. Respond with care and start a conversation.
Create with Heart: Whether it’s writing captions or designing graphics, infuse your work with your personality and passion.
Back to Your Roots: Think about what you did before AI. How did you write social copy? How did you respond to your audience? Tap back into those skills.
The Takeaway
At the end of the day, people connect with people. If you want your audience to engage with your content, you have to show up as your true self. Yes, that might take a little more time or feel a little messier than an AI-generated post. But that’s exactly what makes it worth it.
So in a world full of bots, be a human. 🤘
